The valley fills with visitors each winter and empties again in spring. Events are where the two sides meet — and where a place stops being a destination and starts being somewhere you know people.
A Turkish act better known in Istanbul's clubs than in the Northern Alps played one night in Hakuba — local community and international artists on the same stage, in a valley that does not usually get either.
The Hakuba night was part of a wider Japan tour. We helped bring it here because the valley is worth showing to people who would otherwise never have a reason to come in the first place.
